Influenced by DJ Rectangle and DJ Premier, DJ Chazm started djing in 1997.
Watching all kinds of DJ Battle videos, and with first advices from DJ Prune,
he learned how to spin and to scratch records.
After moving to Cologne in 2000 for his civilian service, he went to
the SAE Institute in 2001. There he met DJ Trixter, and they started to hang
out on the regular and practise together. The chemistry was right, so both founded
a turntable crew named Rawbotics. DJ Trixter also showed him how to make
beats, and introduced him to Luiz MP, who was studying at the SAE as well.
DJ Chazm started to buy equipment, and started his first attempts in beatmaking
and recording local artists. Somehow, he felt that making beats and producing
was that thing for him, and when DJ Trixter went to London around 2004, he decided
to lay his main focus on that.
He teamed up with Luiz MP, and they started making beats together, challenged
each other or just listening to all kinds of Hip Hop trying to figure out production techniques.
They supplied beats for various local artists and recorded them. DJ Chazm also took part
in various US remix contests by this point, trying to gain reputation in the States.
Both of them developed their own style and thus different aims, so after a few years they
decided to go separate ways, but still were doing beats together from time to time.
They also met regularly for listening sessions, giving each other feedback on their
newest productions.
In 2008 the first US artists took notice of his beats and when Ty Nitty
from Infamous Mobb (of whom he always was a big fan of) was amongst them,
he knew he was on the right path.
2009 he made a connection with Crimeboss Luciano (Infamous South) and produced
a whole mixtape, which should be released in 2010.
In the same year he was moved back to his hometown, where he is currently located.
Beatmaking became an obsession for DJ Chazm, he spent days and nights in the
lab, flipping and chopping samples, trying to give his beats pro game.
The sample stuff is where his heart is at, but he also tries to be vesatile,
so he starts working with synthesizers, building a crazy repertoire of different
beats.
So it depends on his mood what kind of beat comes out when he is in the lab.
He stays busy supplying beats for all kind of artists across the United States,
and even Great Britain, trying to expand his reputation.
